Are you authentic enough online?
We’ve all seen them, those overly polished, slightly awkward posts that feel more robotic than relatable. If you’re someone who values being authentic, turning up online in a way that genuinely reflects who you are can seem tricky. But it doesn’t have to be.
Why Authentic Matters
In today’s crowded digital landscape, being genuine matters more than ever. People book people they trust, and trust grows from authenticity. If your online presence feels true to your values and personality, it not only attracts your ideal clients but also feels much better to create and share.
The Challenge of Authenticity
So why is it so hard? Often, it’s because we’re worried about being “professional” or not knowing exactly how much of ourselves we should show. Or perhaps, it’s simply not knowing what words feel right. When you’re not clear on your personal ‘brand voice’, everything you write feels forced.
Help Sounding More Like You
Here’s where I think using AI, specifically ChatGPT, can make a real difference.
AI isn’t about replacing your voice, it’s about amplifying it. You can save hours of staring at a blank page trying to find the right thing to say or the perfectly planned written cadence. You can produce accurate, compelling blog and email material over and over again, by including these three instructions to self:
- Clarify Your Voice: Take a moment to define the values, tone, and personality that you want your content to reflect. This is the principal step for getting AI to speak with your voice, your tone and your meaning.
- Use Clear Prompts: When working with AI, specificity matters. Be clear and detailed about how you want your blog posts, emails, articles and CVs to sound.
- Review and Refine: ALWAYS treat AI outputs as a first draft. Tweak it, add personal stories or insights, and ensure it feels genuine. And if you’re not happy with the outcome, that usually means you didn’t get the prompts right. It’s an art AND a science, and that makes it ideal for thinking musicians.
Keep it Human
Remember, your authentic online presence isn’t about pretending to be something you’re not. It’s about clearly, confidently, and comfortably being exactly who you are. AI is simply a tool to help you do that more effectively and easily.
I’m re-running my course for singers, singing teachers, instrumentalists, vocal coaches, choir leaders and group trainers on training AI to create the best online materials for you. This is for people unsure about using ChatGPT, wanting to know more, or just wanting to improve their AI Prompt game
“Prompts!! I though I had a decent handle on this – but NO I did not”
“Extremely useful for anyone running a small independent business. And very user-friendly!”
