After Estill – the speech they couldn’t wait to hear
Dr Gillyanne Kayes and the “After Estill” speech
On July 21st 2017 AOTOS (the Association of Teachers of Singing) invited Dr Gillyanne Kayes to give the Keynote speech – “After Estill: a conversation we need to have”.
In the hour-long presentation Gillyanne talks about her own relationship with Jo Estill, the context of Jo’s original research, and gives her perspective on the Estill Model – what is still valuable and what needs re-examining.
Gillyanne would like to thank AOTOS for granting her permission to video and disseminate her presentation.
You can watch the official streamed version of the full presentation with references, sanctioned by Dr Kayes and AOTOS, by clicking on the image below.
Why the title of this post?
Well, before the conference was over, and even before Gillyanne had published it, an unauthorised audio-only copy of the Keynote speech “After Estill: a conversation we need to have” was uploaded to social media and shared secretly amongst senior Estill trainers.
